Control and Coordination Class 10 Assertion Reason Questions

The following questions consist of two statements – Assertion (A) and Reason (R). Answer these questions by selecting the appropriate option given below:
(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.
(b) If both Assertion and Reason are correct, but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.
(c) If Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect.
(d) If Assertion is incorrect but Reason is correct

Assertion: Suppression of growth of auxiliary buds is called apical dominance.
Reason: It is due to the effect of the downward movement of Auxin from the apical region towards the lower side.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion: Phototropism is a directional growth movement.
Reason: It occurs in the direction of light.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion: Plants lack the nervous system, but they do coordinate.
Reason: It is so because of hormones

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion: Cytokinins are present in the highest concentration in fruits and seeds.
Reason: Cytokinins are responsible for promoting cell division.

(b) If both Assertion and Reason are correct, but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion: Abscisic acid is responsible for wilting of leaves.
Reason: It is a growth inhibitor.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion: Medulla oblongata causes reflex actions like vomiting, coughing and sneezing.
Reason: It has many nerve cells which control autonomic reflexes.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion: Males have more stature than females during puberty.
Reason: This is because of the presence of thyroxin in the blood of females.

(c) Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false

Assertion: Phototropism is caused by auxin.
Reason: When light is coming from one side of the plant, auxin diffuses towards the shady side of the shoot.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion: Gibberellins induce internodal growth in dwarf plant varieties.
Reason: Gibberellins when applied to normal plants, it increases the length of the plant.

(c) Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false

Assertion: Abscisic acid is a stress hormone.
Reason: Stimulation of ABA occurs in adverse conditions.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): Nervous system and endocrine system are responsible for control and coordination in the human body.
Reason (R): The nervous system coordinates rapid responses, while the endocrine system regulates long-term processes through the release of hormones.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): Reflex actions are involuntary and rapid responses to a stimulus.
Reason (R): Reflex actions bypass the involvement of the brain and are controlled by the spinal cord.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): Hormones are chemical messengers that regulate various physiological processes in the body.
Reason (R): Hormones are secreted by endocrine glands and are transported through the bloodstream to target organs.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): Coordination between different body parts is necessary for the proper functioning of the body.
Reason (R): Coordination allows for the integration of different physiological processes and ensures their harmonious functioning.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): The central nervous system consists of the brain and the spinal cord.
Reason (R): The central nervous system processes and coordinates information received from sensory organs and sends out appropriate responses.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): The eye contains photoreceptor cells called rods and cones that are responsible for vision.
Reason (R): Rods are sensitive to low light and enable black-and-white vision, while cones are responsible for color vision.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): Hormones are released by endocrine glands directly into the bloodstream.
Reason (R): Hormones travel through the bloodstream to reach their target cells or organs.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): The sense of hearing is associated with the auditory receptors in the inner ear.
Reason (R): The auditory receptors, called hair cells, convert sound vibrations into electrical signals that are interpreted by the brain.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): The sense of smell is linked to olfactory receptors in the nasal cavity.
Reason (R): Olfactory receptors detect and respond to different odors, sending signals to the brain for interpretation.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.

Assertion (A): Reflex arcs involve a sensory neuron, an interneuron, and a motor neuron.
Reason (R): Sensory neurons transmit signals from sensory receptors to the spinal cord, interneurons process and integrate the information, and motor neurons carry signals to the effectors for a response.

(a) If both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.
